Day 20

I can hardly believe it, we are only about 8 miles from Leon, and ahead of schedule. How is that possible…hmmm, keyboard characters are different all over so I can´t always punctuate correctly.

Today we finished our planned distance by 1 pm so pushed on another 6k, which is how we are getting so far. The weather today was spectacular, blue skies, and grew hot during the day. In the Meseta it is long and pretty flat, with not much to do but walk. Then walk some more. Drinking lots of agua, and then walking…

I can´t wait to get home so you can debrief Carol about her friends and conversations. Pilgrims share a common life on the Camino, and while all have interesting lives at home, here we are the same. Breakfast, walk, lunch, walk, collapse in a bed, recover, dinner, bed. What a day. The simple life does have some advantages, as we are on pure survival mode most of the time, but it is a wonderful survival, with lots of discoveries along the way. Have you ever really studied ants…or thought about nothing for a very long time…..

Tomorrow is Leon, and we don´t know if we will stay there or not. We have little interest in being tourists, which is kind of strange, but we just want to walk. Over 428 kilometers so far, if my math is right.

Love to you all.

Your adventure seems outside the norm, but you and Carol have always been outside the norm! Just another reason why I love, honor and respect you two. Stay dry and hydrated…wait a minute…no… that’s right!
Keep the posts coming and we’ll keep the prayers going.
