Day 4 complete

Today we hiked to Viana, 389 miles to go! A beautiful ancient city with pilgrims finishing their day and looking for rest. Carol is doing great! We bless you, in Jesus’ Name.

Day 2

Long day today, thru sun to cool wind to rain to clear grey skies with the majesty of the Spanish countryside. I won’t say it is harder, but it is longer! We have met people from- Sweden, Korea, Germany, Wales and England, Norway, Haiti and Dominican Republic, France, Scotland, and USA.

Hello Norm…

Hi Amanda.

Day 1 is complete!

Pamplona to Muruzabel, about 19.6 k. Shorter day today because Skip had stomach problems…  Weather is fantastic here, but in the mtn’s we skipped it was horrible rain and fog.  Praying for you all!

Home Sweet Home

We’ve arrived home safely with much to share, so beware!

We will probably have an evening “presentation” next week for those in the area who would actually like to see more pictures, and especially ask questions. I’ll let you know by blog and email when this event is confirmed.

Thank you all so much for praying for us. We were “event” free for the entire trip, meaning no injuries, blisters to speak of, or anything serious to deal with. Not so for other pilgrim’s, so we give thanks to God for His Protection. Read here “seriously thankful” as I think of those who went to the hospital for treatments of one kind or another.

God was up to something, and we are still discerning Him about all of this, and we look forward to seeing you, sharing our faith in Christ with you as well as our Camino.

Blessings,

Day 39 – We made it!

We walked in to Santiago today and attended the Pilgrim´s Mass at the Cathedral. A very moving experience, and good to see a church full of people.

If you saw The Way you may remember the swinging of the censor, which they did today as well. Awesome.

I was quite moved by the service, and the wonderful welcome given by the priest to all of us pilgrims. He called us ´brothers,´and so made us feel glad to be there. The history was alive and real, as was the Spirit of God in that place.

We figure we did about 480 miles on foot, and are injury-free as of now. Amazing. So many others pushed harder each day and ended up hurt.

Will try to rent a car tomorrow and get around to Finesterre and Muxia, but not sure. God is up to something, so we´ll just go for the ride!

I now have more of an “answer” as to why we came on this trip, and look forward to sharing it with you all. One doesn´t always know what´s going on until one finishes a thing, and that´s what happened here. It began with “an obedience,” and has finished with a “well done,” but there is so much more.

We love you and miss you and will be home Wednesday, Lord willing.

Day 37

It is Thursday morning here, and we are drying out from two days of rain. Yesterday it rained hard all day, to which Carol replied, ¨A walk in the park.¨ What a trooper!

Today we will go a short distance to just outside Santiago, then tomorrow maybe we´ll get to the city. We should have plenty of time to go to Finisterre, and look forward to that history lesson, as it has been called ¨The end of the world¨ for centuries.

Trying hard to keep our minds off all that awaits us upon return, so we can live these last Camino Days as Pilgrims, but you are all on our minds and hearts.

Sermons? Yes, I have a few hundred stored up!!!

See you soon.

Day 32 – Saturday

IMG_1679We are in Barbadelo, about 111.0 k, or 68.5 miles, from Santiago. Mile by mile we are making the pilgrimage.
The scenery in Galicia is simply wonderful, spectacular in fact, with rivers and animals and birds giving us a daily concert, and the trails are like Silver Falls. The sun has come, and the gentle breeze is welcomed.

Each Albergue we stay in has its own charm and story. This one is like a private ranch, with horses and fields and mtn trails. We sat in the sun upon arrival and thought of home,as it could have been outside of Banks! Well, except they speak only Spanish here…

Think for a minute about walking. Then add in many hours of walking at the same time. Then think about what you might think about, with hours and hours to take in what you never seen when not paying attention. Yes, it is kind of interesting, and difficult to express here, much less for you to comprehend there, but let´s just say the long walk gives one time to process the time, and to listen to sounds. We walk together at times, and often alone, unless a fellow pilgrim is along the way. Lately our pace has left us behind the crowd we know, so perhaps we´ll meet a new group in the final days.

Blessings to all of you, and have a glorious Sunday praising our incomprable Lord Jesus Christ!
